Amanda Keller has revealed why she thinks Dr. Chris Brown quit Channel 10.

The Australian vet turned TV presenter was poached by rival network Seven, with news breaking overnight he’s set to finish up at Ten after the next season of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

News.com.au understands Brown will be on a two-year contract with Seven, believed to be worth more than $1 million a year.

And now Keller, who co-starred with Brown on Ten’s The Living Room before the award-winning program was “rested” for 2023, said the network’s unwillingness to renew the lifestyle show for this year was a “risk”.

In October, Keller had revealed the cast was “sad” to be taking a break from the show, and that it was a network decision to temporarily halt filming.

“I said at the time, this is the risk you take as a network. None of us are on contracts, they haven’t rested the show and retained us on contract,” Keller said today on WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda.

Keller said Brown was “looking for” more opportunities because his co-hosting role on Ten’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! only kept him busy for a few short weeks a year.

“So as Chris said, ‘I’m working one month a year on television’,” Keller said.

“In terms of television, he’s doing I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here, which pretty much goes for a month, and then he has 11 months where he’s looking for a TV project.”

The upcoming season of I’m A Celeb, set to air in April, will be Brown’s last before he jumps ship to Seven on July 1.

Keller also gave more details about what Brown will tackle once he moves to Seven.

“He’s got ideas for his own programs and Channel 7 have said come and do it over here and all power to him,” Keller said.

“Why would Chris not jump somewhere where he’s offered a variety of work for a year?”

It comes after Brown was spotted at the Clovelly Hotel, near his Sydney home, Wednesday night before the news broke of his departure from Ten.

He was photographed speaking on the phone with his head in his hands.

But he was upbeat in a statement released by Seven today, saying he was excited to return to the network at which he started his TV career.

“I’m not entirely sure my old access pass works but once we get over that hurdle and I’m back from the jungle, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into some exciting new projects in the second half of the year and beyond with Seven,” he said.

Brown actually got his TV start at Seven, presenting as a vet on Harry’s Practice in 2003, before moving to Nine as a Burke’s Backyard presenter.

He started on Ten as the star of Bondi Vet back in 2008, before two years later becoming a regular panellist on The Project. In 2012, he joined Ten’s Friday night lifestyle program The Living Room, and in 2015 began co-hosting I’m A Celeb with Julia Morris.
