The company that Jackie O Henderson started with her best friend already has a huge name attached to it, before the duo’s latest project has even launched.
Jackie O and Gemma O’Neill, who created besties, teamed up with Renae James and Nicole Kelly from Papinelle to create a tennis-inspired pyjama range.
But, prior to today’s launch date, a huge international celebrity was spotted wearing a pair of the duo’s tracksuit pants.
Gwyneth Paltrow flew into Sydney briefly to speak at the besties event, as part of the brand’s offerings of a place where friends can see exclusive speakers, go on private holidays and use luxe products.
“We didn’t know she had worn it until her assistant told us, he told us she absolutely loved the PJs and she wore them to the airport, not just on the plane.” Jackie O told news.com.au.
“It was the ultimate accolade to receive – anyone starting a business knows that a celebrity of her calibre wearing our product is a huge endorsement.
“Once we left her assistant, we immediately googled it and saw the pictures of her in the navy pants, we were on the streets of Bondi and we were both cheering, it was such an exciting moment for besties!”
The collaboration between Papinelle and besties came about after Jackie O and Gemma were approached by the brand, which proved a serendipitous moment as the duo had already been discussing that loungewear should be their first product.
Gemma and Jackie O both love tennis, with the radio star trying to play a mixture of squash and tennis once or twice as week, so the idea of tennis pyjamas felt natural.
“I felt like it had not been done before – I had not seen it out in there,” Jackie O said.
“A lot of girls I know, get into tennis for the sexy outfits, so combining these PJs with the tennis outfits was a genius idea. A little sexy tennis inspired PJ!”
Jackie O said she loved that the two brands were completely run by women, adding that she loved women had the confidence to start their own businesses.
“It’s so good to see women being so successful in business and creating empires is inspiring,” she said.
“I really value women having their own independence and I think it’s so important for women to have that financial independence especially, not having to rely on anyone else.

Now, besties and Papinelle are getting ready to promote the brand new range, which features white and navy pyjama dresses, tops, shorts and the jogger pants worn by Gwyneth.
Besties is also getting set to find their next speaker off the back of a successful event with the Goop founder.
