Iowa tight end Erick All exited the Hawkeyes game against Wisconsin in the first quarter with an apparent knee injury and was later ruled out for the game. Here’s what you need to know:

  • All went down after catching a 5-yard pass midway through the first quarter. He was in the sideline tent before being taken off the field on a cart.
  • All is Iowa’s leading pass catcher and has 19 receptions for 280 yards and three TDs this season.
  • All’s absence leaves the Hawkeyes without their top three tight ends. Luke Lachey injured his leg against Western Michigan, and Addison Ostrenga did not dress in Madison.
  • Wisconsin QB Tanner Mordecai injured his right hand in the second quarter and was also ruled out for the second half.

What does this mean for Iowa?

The position that once appeared as a strength now is dealing with another significant injury. All had become the biggest threat in the passing game and was the leading receiver through six games. On his two final plays, All caught a 14-yard pass to convert a third down and then hauled in a 5-yard strike before he was injured.

Earlier this season, All and Lachey formed one of the nation’s best tight end tandems. But Lachey suffered a broken leg in the Hawkeyes’ third game against Western Michigan. With starting quarterback Cade McNamara out for the season with an ACL tear, the hits keep coming for Iowa’s struggling offense.
