The Tennessee Titans will move forward with rookie Will Levis as their starting quarterback even when Ryan Tannehill is healthy, coach Mike Vrabel announced Tuesday. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Levis, a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, started the last two games for an injured Tannehill. The rookie threw for 500 yards with four touchdowns and one interception as Tennessee went 1-1 in his starts.
  • Tannehill sustained an ankle injury in the Titans’ Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Malik Willis replaced Tannehill during the loss, but Levis started in Week 8 after a bye.
  • Tannehill has thrown for 1,128 yards, two TDs and six interceptions in his six starts this season.
  • The Titans hit the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 10.

He produced the worst passer rating of his career in the Titans’ Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Then he added the third-worst passer rating of his career during the Week 6 loss to the Ravens. This occurred before he left the game with the injury. You could’ve guessed that his Week 6 EPA rate was also near a personal low as the second worst of his career.

Meanwhile, Levis has yielded a -0.01 EPA rate and a 96.4 passer rating in his two starts. This included a great debut in Week 8 with four TD passes, a 0.13 EPA rate and 130.5 passer rating in Tennessee’s win over the Atlanta Falcons. That game alone had to be enough for the Titans to make the switch. — Larry Holder, senior NFL writer
